The Mozambican Network of Human Rights Defenders (RMDDH) welcomes you to the webinar “Civic Space and Freedom of the Press in Mozambique: Risks and Protection Mechanisms for Journalists”, taking place on 15 September 2026.
The webinar will provide a platform for the exchange of experiences and reflection on the challenges affecting the practice of journalism, including threats, intimidation, restrictions, attacks against journalists and media outlets, as well as the seizure or prolonged retention of professional equipment.
The event will bring together journalists, human rights organisations and other relevant stakeholders to discuss recent cases and identify practical measures for risk prevention, response, referral and follow-up of journalists at risk.
The initiative also seeks to strengthen the recognition of journalists as human rights defenders, particularly where their work contributes to the promotion and protection of fundamental rights, while strengthening coordination among journalists, media organisations, civil society organisations and relevant protection mechanisms.
The webinar is organised under the Pro-Civic and Human Rights Project, implemented by a consortium led by the Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD), with funding from the Embassy of Finland.
