This Friday, April 12, in the city of Quelimane, a "Round Table" was held on the theme "Reflection on Civic Space, Democracy and Human Rights: Strengthening platforms for dialogue between CSOs and government institutions for the Development of Civic Space in the Province".
This event is being organized by the Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD) in partnership with the Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations of Zambezia (FONGZA), in the city of Quelimane. It is a meeting that aims to strengthen the platform for dialogue between the government and civil society organizations and to reflect on the challenges, opportunities and ways forward for the development of civic space and citizen participation in local governance in Zambezia Province.
The opening session was attended by Osman Cossing, IMD's Program Coordinator, and Abdul Latifo Mussa, Provincial Director of Gender, Children and Social Action, representing the Governor of Zambézia Province.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Provincial Assembly of Zambézia, representatives of the Provincial Executive Council, Representatives of the Municipal Council, invited District Administrators, Representatives of Political Parties, Cooperation Partners at Provincial level, Representatives of Civil Society Organizations, Members of the Consortium, the Media and the general public.
This meeting is being held as part of the "Pro Cívico e Direitos Humanos" project, following the implementation of the Schools for Democracy initiative, which is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Embassy in Mozambique and implemented by the consortium made up of IMD, MASC, CESC and CDD.
