This morning, June 27, the Mozambican Network of Human Rights Defenders (RMDDH) held an event on the Resilience of Human Rights Defenders in the Electoral Period: Retrospective of the Situation of Human Rights Defenders during the October 2023 Municipal Elections.
The occasion was used to present the preliminary report on the situation of the Defenders during the 2023 local elections.
Basically, the report takes an X-ray of the situation of the Defenders during the past local elections, the level of compliance with human rights, as well as respect for the Defenders, who are indispensable actors in the maintenance of democracy.
The occasion also served to strengthen the protection and security of Defenders as well as providing valuable insights into the report.
The presence of human rights defenders and cooperation partners was significant, totaling 27 participants, including 10 women.
